About Jonathan.

About Me.
Person-Centred Counsellor in Lancaster | BACP Registered | Online & In-Person Therapy

Hello, I'm Jonathan Haslam, a qualified, BACP-registered counsellor and psychotherapist based in Lancaster, Lancashire, working with individuals across the North West of England and offering online counselling throughout the UK.

I take a person-centred approach to therapy. That means you won’t be met with generic solutions or clinical detachment. Instead, you’ll find someone who listens with empathy, meets you where you are, and offers a safe, confidential space for real connection and meaningful change.
Why I Became a Counsellor:
I didn’t just study counselling - I lived the journey that brought me here. Like many of my clients, I reached a point in life where I needed to understand what was really going on beneath the surface. Therapy helped me explore those root causes and experience profound, lasting change. That experience inspired me to train professionally, so I could support others on their own path toward clarity, healing, and growth.

Helping people has always been at the heart of my career. Whether through formal counselling or informal connection, I’ve always been drawn to deep, meaningful conversations and to holding space for others with compassion and authenticity.

I also believe strongly in giving back to the community and regularly volunteer with two local counselling centres here in Lancaster.
My Approach to Therapy.
I don't direct or diagnose - I reflect, support, and guide. My role is to help you untangle what’s going on by offering a therapeutic relationship that feels:

-
Safe
-
Down-to-earth
-
Non-judgmental
-
Flexible and tailored to your pace

Together, we’ll explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences without pressure. I’ll walk alongside you, not in front of you, as you discover what’s really behind the challenges you’re facing.
My clients often describe me as "authentic and real," and that’s exactly how I aim to show up: as a human being first, and a therapist second.
